Our first speaker, Norma Blake, has been the State Librarian of New Jersey since February 19, 2001. Prior to that, she was Director of the Burlington County and Gloucester County Libraries, Director of the West Deptford Public Library and Assistant Director of the South River Public Library. She has also been an adult education teacher and a junior high school reading teacher. Ms. Blake has an M.L.S. degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick and a B.A. degree in English and Reading from Montclair State College. She has held leadership positions in numerous New Jersey organizations. She is a past president of the New Jersey Library Association and was named Librarian of the Year in 1999-2000. At present, she serves on the boards of NJ Reads, NJN Citizens Advisory Board, and CODE, the Committee on Distance Education.

Next, David Rebovich will share his insights into the New Jersey gubernatorial and assembly elections.   Dr. David Rebovich is Managing Director of Rider University's Institute for New Jersey Politics and Chair of the Political Science Department.  Educated at Johns Hopkins and Rutgers, Dr. Rebovich teaches courses in New Jersey Politics, Political Campaigning, Issues and Advocacy, and Public Administration.  The author of several articles and book chapters on various topics in political science, Dr. Rebovich is best known as a political commentator.  He has written over 700 columns for The Times of Trenton, The Trentonian, The Philadelphia Inquirer and currently for New Jersey Lawyer and the popular political website PoliticsNJ.com.  He also appears regularly on New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York television and radio and will be doing election night analysis on NJN this year.

Daniel Noonan will step to the podium next with a presentation on preserving digital documents from New Jersey state government departments and agencies.  Noonan is Supervisor, Electronic Records Management, Division of Archives and Records Management, New Jersey Department of State.  Other responsibilities include electronic records consultant to state and local agencies, coordinator of image processing certification, and development team leader of the Specialized Document Imaging Unit (SDI), and division Webmaster. 

The afternoon walking tours should be delightful.  The New Jersey State Library, the State House, and the State Archives building will open their doors to DANJ conference attendees for guided tours of these interesting facilities. 

·        The State House - Learn about our Capitol's evolution from a simple rubble-stone structure built in 1792 to the grand architectural monument of today.  In the Rotunda view the impressive stained glass windows surrounding portraits of our early Governors.

·        The State Library – The New Jersey State Library has been offering the highest quality service to the executive, legislative and judicial branches of state government for more than 200 years.  Come tour the resources of this New Jersey landmark.

·        The State Archives – Tour the treasures housed in this facility.
